After the Festive maelstrom that is December we’ve finally been able to get back to some sort of normality. Declan has tried his hand at a few new beer recipes with our hoppy pale ale ‘The Icarus Project’ selling out in a record time. Thankfully for fans of the beer named after mythology’s most arrogant flyer we had a new batch ready to go on within a few weeks. We also resurrected the Black Unicorn, our black IPA, from the void.

Back in December we became the first verified venue in Glasgow on Untappd. This means you can now follow the bar through the app and whenever we release a new in house beer you’ll get an instant notification. This also allows us to update you when we add a new guest beer to our taps, such as Pilot’s tuck shop inspired hefeweizen Ultraviolet which flew out quicker than you can unwrap a packet of Parma Violets.

 

This month has seen us create our first ever collab beers. With help from the folks at Drygate we’ve tried our first sour beers. The first effort was brewed here at SBCo and we put together a Goze which will be on sale within the next couple of weeks. After that we went down to the Drygate and using their studio kit we cracked out a beer in the style of a Berliner Weisse. It was great to work with Jake, who aside from his hectic schedule at Drygate runs the fantastic Up Front Brewery as well. We’re hoping to get a few more collabs lined up throughout the year. Moving forward this year we have a lot planned. The festival calendar is filling up fast and we’ve commissioned a mobile bar to take our beers across Scotland. In the bar we’re planning some tap takeover and brewer vs. brewer competitions. The first of these to take place is on Friday the 24th of February. Loch Lomond have re-jigged their East Coast IPA with a new strain of yeast and more hops, and they’re launching it in our bar along with a tap takeover where we’ll have 6 of their beers on in total.
